The Resia Lake, South Tyrol
Seehotel is located on the shores of the Resia Lake, a magic place with an ancient history. Till to the 1950 here there were three different lakes: the Resia Lake, the Curon Lake and the San Valentino alla Muta Lake. After the construction of a dam, the three lakes were unified and the municipality of Curon was submerged by the waters. The bell tower that you can see today in the lake belonged to a fourteenth-century church. For many people this is a touristic attraction; for many other it is just a sad reminder.
Kitesurfing, windsurfing and snow kiting are some of the most popular sports at the Resia Lake. The German international championships of snow kiting were held here since 2008. Around the lake you can go hiking, biking and horseback riding.
The Resia Lake has a length of 6 km and a capacity of 120 million cubic meters. In fact, it is the largest lake in South Tyrol where they live perch, pike, char and whitefish.
